becoming a better person

i have realized many times that people can be mean. but i have also realized that those mean people have feelings and they are going through things you can't even imagine. and they aren't trying to be mean, they are having hard times. just like we do.

i have been fascinated lately with the story of the woman who committed adultery and was brought to the Lord. the Lord teaches such a powerful lesson here. the priests are telling Jesus about what the woman had done and how she should be stoned. what he says to the priests is incredible, "he who is without sin among you, cast the first stone." all the men step back in shock. he then says to the woman, looking into her eyes, knowing all that is in her heart, "go, and sin no more." (Click here to watch the video!)

unlike the priests, and all of us, the Lord can see exactly what is in our minds and in our hearts. he knows our thoughts, desires and intentions. he also knows what we are going through. and he still loves us! i have thought about how i can be more like Christ in this aspect and i've come to the conclusion to love everybody. no matter the wrongs they may have done to us, or things they may have said, i don't know what they are going through and i should be taking the time to get to know them better and love them as my brother or sister. therefore, not just being THE better person, but becoming A better person.
